We have been donating meals, supplies, food, etc to underserved communities, teachers, nurses, and more since our inception in 2020. After the community rallied to help us raise more than $3k to donate Milk to the Dublin Food Pantry while SNAP benefits were withheld, we realized that we could help many more people by being the conduit through which folks all over could get filling food to those in need without having to leave the house.
Each of these donation meals that you purchase will be donated to a local warming center, mutual aid facility, or food pantry. These locations may change from week to week, depending on need. We will maintain a spreadsheet for clarity/tracking of donations/delivered meals. We will be starting in the Columbus area, as that is where our commercial kitchen is and where we call home but would love to eventually expand this effort to work with our Indianapolis and Chicago partners as well.
Our team appreciates all of you very very much, and we are consistently blown away by the kindness and selflessness we have seen in our communities.
Disclaimer: we have no idea what to expect volume wise. We will be very open with updates on our IG page and in our weekly emails, plus I can always be reached at info@fitfreshfast.com. If we have a week where the volume of these purchases is more than we can handle that week, we will formulate a plan to make sure they get made and distributed as soon as possible. Many of these meals may be very similar or the same as what is on our regular menu. I have done my best to average out the true cost of the meals including labor, rent, packaging/insurance etc and remove my profit from the equation. We pay our staff at least $22/hour and cover half of very good, low-deductible benefits, which is where the majority of the cost comes from.
